Dementia Support
Dementia Support Team
DST (Dementia Support Team) is a team of specialists, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, mental health workers, clinical psychologists, and other professionals with expertise in dementia who work together with a strong sense of unity to support people with dementia, their families, and many staff members. The team supports people with dementia, their families, and many staff members. We started our activities in April 2014.
Provides support to individuals with dementia hospitalized for various causes and to staff involved in dementia care. Based on correct knowledge of dementia and dementia care, we consider treatment methods in accordance with the wishes of the patient and family. Once a week, we conduct ward rounds and conferences to provide advice and suggestions on methods of care, adjustments to the treatment environment, and the use of medications. We have a system in place to address these issues throughout the entire corporation. In addition, the Group has been providing dementia care and treatment with zero physical restraints for more than 20 years.
We are actively involved in staff education, planning and organizing training programs, as well as researching and writing about other areas such as treatment, care, and rehabilitation. We will provide support that brings smiles to the faces of both people with dementia and those who support them, by coordinating the involvement of multiple professions with each patient while utilizing their respective expertise.
Assessment Scale for Elderly People with Dementia's Desire to Return Home Behavior
The desire to "go home" seen in people with dementia can become a major challenge in their care when it manifests itself as behavior.
In order to objectively assess the extent of this behavior and provide more appropriate support, we have created the Desire to Return Home Behavior Assessment Scale (the Return Home Behavior Scale).
It can be used not only as an assessment tool for medical and nursing professionals, but also as a clue for family members to understand the person's condition.
